Toro Nagashi Festival Is Back At Japanese Friendship Garden

A highlight of the Toro Nagashi Festival is the touching custom of floating lanterns to remember and honor those who have passed away.

As twilight sets in, the lower garden stream becomes aglow with the warm light of floating lanterns adorned with LED candles. Guests are invited to participate in this heartwarming tradition and send their wishes of peace and love to their dearly departed.

Starting at 10AM on Friday, August 11th, we will have 100 lanterns available for purchase and decoration in the Inamori Pavilion. It’s a first-come, first-served opportunity, so make sure to arrive early to secure your lantern and personalize it with your heartfelt messages.

Indulge your taste buds with delectable delights from an array of food vendors scattered across the lower garden. From the authentic flavors of Hinotez Japanese Kitchen to the mouthwatering delicacies served up by House of Bao, there’s something to please every palate.
