C ranbrook Art Museum is kicking off summer with Cranbrook on the Green, which sees the Bloomfield Hills grounds transform into a nine-hole mini golf course. The attraction opens on May 25, and the holes are inspired by unique elements of Cranbrook’s history and the landmarks and art installations that are located around the museum.

The course features a hole based on the ceramic works of former Cranbrook Academy of Art pottery instructor Maija Grotell; the sonambient sculptures by Cranbrook alum Harry Bertoia; the “Tulip Chair” created by Cranbrook alum, teacher, and architect Eero Saarinen; and more works by influential people associated with the school. It also takes guests through Cranbrook landmarks such as the flower gardens and the Orpheus Fountain, which is one of the museum’s main centerpieces. And, there’s an extra 10th bonus hole around the gates of Cranbrook Schools’ Quadrangle Fountain. Plastic Wood Dining Set

“With Cranbrook on the Green, we are inviting audiences to play as they learn and explore our incredible grounds during the summer months,” says Lyla Catellier, curator of public programs at Cranbrook Art Museum, in a press release. “We hope new visitors will get to know Cranbrook’s National Historic Landmark campus through this unique experience and that longtime enthusiasts of Cranbrook will be surprised and delighted at each hole.”

Visitors will be able to play the course, which is open through Sept. 25, from 11 a.m. to sundown, Wednesday to Sunday. There is also an exclusive preview weekend for the course to be hosted on May 21 and 22 for Cranbrook ArtMembers.

Cranbrook on the Green tickets are sold via timeslot on the Cranbrook Art Museum website. A ticket costs $15 for adults,  $10 for Detroit residents or ArtMembers, and $8 for kids 12 and under. Cranbrook on the Green tickets also include access to the museum.

Guest check-in for the Cranbrook on the Green course will be held outside the main doors of the museum near the Peristyle Plaza and across from the Orpheus Fountain.
