Scattered and light showers hung around the Bay Area on Wednesday morning after a wet day on Tuesday, as cloudy skies and the occasional rainfall were expected to stick around until heading south early Thursday.
San Francisco took the brunt of the rainfall overnight, with 0.41 inches of rain hitting the city between midnight and 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. Oakland received 0.10 inches, Concord 0.06 and Hayward 0.03. Full Cutoff Led Wall Pack
Morning showers mostly stuck to the coast, with 0.25 inches hitting Half Moon Bay over the six-hour period and 0.2 in Soquel.
While San Jose and virtually all of the South Bay remained dry Wednesday morning, the NWS forecast predicted a 40% chance of rain for the rest of the day, with no more than one-tenth of an inch falling before 11 p.m.
Bay Area residents still reeling from the January and March storms shouldn’t worry about long-lasting storms and flooding, however. The NWS morning bulletin Wednesday said the current storm system was expected to make its way to Southern California beginning Thursday morning.
As the system diverts south, temperatures were predicted to hang around the mid-60s over the weekend in San Jose with sunny skies and low wind. Temperatures around the low 60s were expected in Oakland and San Francisco, making for a chilly yet dry weekend throughout the Bay Area.
