Room sprays are not for everybody and can cause headaches for those who are more sensitive - but sometimes it feels like reed diffusers just aren't strong enough to have any real impact on the way your home smells.
But, at the same time, you don't want all your hard work and effort to go to waste for your home not to have a delightful aroma - but one Mrs Hinch fan thinks she has the answer.
Taking to the Mrs Hinch Cleanint Tips Facebook page, one anonymous user asked for advice about which reed diffusers were the best to use, and people filled the comments - but many of them were not budget-friendly.
With recommendations like Jo Malone and Neom, at a time when many people are feeling the pinch to their purses, the user would likely have still been searching for the answer to make their home smell like it had just been cleaned.
But one reed diffuser fan shared a pearl of wisdom that they'd recently learned - and people were shocked.
They wrote: "Don't know if people know, but you have to turn the reeds upside down every few days. I didn't know this but does make a difference."
According to Feather & Black, you need to "immerse your reeds into the liquid and allow them to soak up the oil. Once they have absorbed some of the oil, flip them to begin the release of the beautiful scented home fragrance.
"You'll need to flip your reeds regularly, we suggest every few days, to keep the scent fresh and fragrant. Keep in mind that the more your flip, the quicker the oil will evaporate.
"Diffusers don't require a flame or heat source for them to work, making them a safe and practical way to fragrance your home."
